Rex attended San Francisco State University, where he studied acting. He began his career as a model, appearing in numerous fashion magazines. He also appeared in music videos for such artists as Mariah Carey, Busta Rhymes, and Moby.
Rex’s breakout role came in the 2003 horror comedy film Scary Movie 3, in which he played George. He also appeared in the films Son of the Mask and Superhero Movie. In 2009, Rex starred in the vampire mockumentary film What We Do in the Shadows.
